Siem Reap has in the meantime an incredible bunch of hotels. 6 years ago it was laid back and you saw no more than a handful tourists in this little town. There were a couple bigger hotels on the way from the so called downtown and a few guesthouses with a 500 m around the market and center. In the meantime it exploded. We are talking about 2.5 mio tourists a year coming and when you divide that by 52 weeks you get around 50000 poeple a week coming. Take an average of 30 room of a hotel and you get 1600 hotels. And that's where it probably start when you see yourself hesitate, which one to choose. Same with restaurants when you imagine what crowd is getting hungry. You will be a number in the crowd wherever you go day and night time.
Now it's 6 years later and we heard daily about the impact. Everyone smart living in Sihanoukville ended finally up with his business in Siem Reap and tried to get lucky with those facts. Hotel & restaurant owners, electricians and whatever else left to dig gold in Siem Reap with the impact came up 3 years ago.
So we are not running major databases yet and just try to pick the most charming places offering something special for you. The rest you will find in Agoda and wherever else on the web.
Siem Reap's nightlife concentrates mainly at the so called downtown around the market.
